Wenning Class
Ryburn Class Learning Journey 2019-2020
Thursday 14th November
This week we have been extremely lucky to have a special visitor come into Year 5. Anabel Gaskin set up a whole topic day for us and taught us so much about what it would have been like to be a child during WW II. We thoroughly enjoyed looking at all the amazing artifacts she brought in for us! Did you know that, because of rationing, women had to use vegetables for makeup!
Thursday 7th November
Our topic this half term is all about World War II. We spent time looking at the different events that have happened throughout history and where WWII fit into this. We created a time line of all the events and discussed that although it was only a short event, it had a huge impact on lives around the world.
Thursday 24th October
This week we performed our amazing Shakespeare play of Macbeth at a theatre in Leeds. It was an amazing experience and all of the children were absolutely phenomenal. They were professional from start to finish and I couldn't be prouder of what they have achieved in such a short amount of time! Well done Ryburn!
Thursday 10th October
This week we had a very exciting visit from John Battle. He spent the afternoon, with both Year 5 classes, discussing his role as a Member of Parliament and what that actually meant. The children wowed him with their questions and all the knowledge they already had on politics! I think, after this afternoon, we have a group of MPs in the making!
Thursday 26th September
This week, in maths, we have been looking at adding and subtracting large numbers using the column method. We had a lot of fun going outside to complete a treasure hunt of addition and subtraction problems!
Thursday 12th September
