Aire Class Learning Journey 2019-2020
February 2020
Aire Class have been enjoying learning all about Chinese New Year. We have learnt about how the years got their names, we made our own red lanterns, had a go at writing our names in Chinese, designed a Chinese dragon and had a go at some dragon dancing and even tried some Chinese food!
January 2020
For our topic, 'What's new on your plate?' we have been trying different foods that we might not have tried before.
So far we have tasted courgette, sugar snap peas, pomegranate and grapefruit. Everybody was very brave and tried all of the different fruits and vegetables, some of us loved them but so of us weren't so sure!

On Wednesday we performed our Reception Nativity 'The Very Hopeless Camel'. The children said their lines loudly, sang the songs beautifully and danced altogether. Well done to all of the children!

The children in Reception have been practising their reading, writing and maths independently in the areas of the classroom.
They have enjoyed playing buried treasure, working out their own maths problems, practising their key words and even writing letters to Santa.

In maths we have been learning how to use part part whole models to find number bonds. This week we have been looking at the number 8. We used cubes and numicon to work out all the different ways we could make 8.

The children in Reception are enjoying getting to know their Year 6 Buddies. They had lots of fun when the Year 6 children came downstairs to read them stories!

This week the children have been independently creating lift the flap pictures using paper and small card. They had a go at putting numbers on the flaps and then drawing pictures underneath.

Welcome to Aire Class!
All of the adults in Reception are very proud of how well the children have settled into their new classes.
We have been busy making new friends, learning the classroom rules and having lots of fun.
